West Virginia Quilt Documentation Project
Presented by West Virginia Quilters, Inc.; West Virginia Division of Culture and History; and West Virginia Department of Education and the Arts
The goal of this project is to gather information on pre-1970 quilts that were made or reside in West Virginia. Mountaineer Week will provide a convenient opportunity to bring quilts for documentation. Make an appointment (Friday, October 20 from 10:00am till 3:00pm or Saturday October 21 from 10:00am till 3:00pm) and a team of volunteers will measure, photograph, date and ID the pattern. Bring information and pictures of the quiltmaker, but “maker unknown” quilts are also welcomed. Data gathered will be stored in the WV Culture Center Archives and will be uploaded to the online data base The Quilt Index, www.quiltindex.org . Information about quilt ownership will remain confidential.
