Sweaty Hands String Band

Nov 15 | 10pm

Mountainlair Gluck Theatre

Based in Morgantown, West Virginia, the Sweaty Hand String Band brings a modern sound to the bluegrass format. Formed after the members all met in the WVU Bluegrass Band, Sweaty Hands has graced the stages of Clifftop, hosted sold-old Folk Nights at 123 Pleasant Street, and has performed at countless venues around the Appalachian region. Known for their fusion of neo-traditional fiddle tunes with classic bluegrass repertoire, their quirky style is Appalachian to its core. Rooted by Mason Atha on bass and backed up by Robin Frey and Hazel on guitar, the Sweaty Hands Backline lays it down every time. Claire Silbernagel and Kaylee Boyce trade off fiddles, mandolins, guitars and songwriting duties. Their newest addition, Isaac McCarthy on banjo, also contributes to the band’s original material. The Sweaty Hand String Band lives by the motto, “people first, music second.” If you catch them live, you’ll experience their joy, passion and exuberance on and off the stage — but don’t get distracted by their driving energy.

This performance is part of WVUp All Night.
