A native West Virginian, Emily Lehr finds comfort in the tradition of her Appalachian roots while maintaining her own spin on her sound. Borrowing from the likes of Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt, Lehr incorporates elements from a previous generation in addition to current influences such as Lizzy McAlpine, Sarah Jarosz and Kacey Musgraves. In her debut project, “The Drive Home,” listeners can hear a love letter to West Virginia, written about home, family, and the complexities of finding your way through faith and self-discovery.
Free and open to the public. This performance is part of WVUp All Night.
