Spinning is the process of drawing out and twisting fibers to join them firmly together in a continuous thread or yarn. Spinning is an indispensable preliminary to weaving cloth from those fibers that do not have extreme length.

Katie Donnelly is a local fiber arts expert who has taught beginner spinning and weaving classes at Prickett’s Fort and Arthurdale Heritage. Learn the history and basics of weaving, spinning, and more from Katie in this lecture and demonstration.
