Southest Tourism Society

For the past four years, the Mountaineer Week Committee was notified by the Southeast Tourism Society that our event was chosen as one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast. Thousands of events across the Southeast compete for this prestigious award designation. This award provides best destination resources and travel information to the Southeastern states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

Television and radio stations in the United States and Canada have created excellent publicity for the Top 20 Event winners. Over 400 newspapers, magazines, radio & television stations, AAA’s and others receive the Top 20 listings; including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which prints the Top 20 Events as a regular feature of their Travel section. The Top 20 Events are also listed on the Southeast Tourism Society web sites at http://www.southeasttourism.org and http://www.escapetothesoutheast.com.

We believe that it is important for us to market Mountaineer Week as a diverse program offering multi-faceted experiences for everyone. This award designation should enable us to integrate tourism with our celebration of the state of West Virginia, enabling our guests to become immersed in our State’s customs, traditions, history and culture. This year has marked the third consecutive year that Mountaineer Week has been awarded this humbling honor.
